Our End Of Year Business Summary

As 2024 ends, Northern Media reflects on the many positives and the challenges we have faced. It’s been a year of growth and achievement.

Another year has flown by and 2024 comes to an end.

This year has been a very good year for Northern Media with lots of positives to reflect on….along with the usual challenges that everyone has!

New Projects & Continued Partnerships

The year started and ended with an influx of new website projects including the largest value single order we’ve ever won!

Our relationship with Wakefield Council also continued as we launched the second phase of the e-learning platform that supports the Wakefield Council Referral Team in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle across the region.

A large part of our business is based on retainer work and our retention rate has been very high this year which is a testament to the work of the team on developing great client relationships and ensuring that all work is carried out in line with the agreements.

Existing and client growth during 2024 was slightly slower than we anticipated mainly due to economic factors, especially given the increase in overheads for many of our clients and general economic uncertainty.

Our Talented Team

People are at the heart of Northern Media and I’ll admit that we’ve got it wrong at times this year by recruiting individuals who we felt didn’t suit our values and culture. However, following the addition of Gavin, David and Grace to the team, we are up to full strength again and the team is probably the strongest it has ever been in terms of specialism, knowledge and character.

We also saw Aalia join as a Digital Marketing Executive in July. Aalia is the latest apprentice to join, and she has been a great addition to the team.

Charity Fundraising

A few of the team got out their hiking boots and completed The Yorkshire Three Peaks in September. It’s safe to say that I probably underestimated how difficult it would be and there were certainly times when I had to have a serious word with myself to keep going, especially on the final Peak. However, the feeling at the end was fantastic and I was very proud of us for doing it under the 12-hour time limit.

Award Season

November saw us nominated for 2 We Are Wakefield Business Awards with us winning Creative Business of the Year. It was a proud evening for the business and the team naturally celebrated late into the evening!

Jess, who celebrated her 10-year anniversary with us in August, was also up for Employee of the Year on the evening but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be this year!

10 Year Anniversary

Jess was the second ever employee at Northern Media when she joined in 2014. Her enthusiasm for her job and the team is what makes her so great to have in the business. 10 years at the same agency is very rare and we are very grateful to her for putting her faith in us and trusting our plans all of those years ago. We are very lucky to have Jess and her commitment, loyalty, dedication and fun approach to work has played a huge contribution to Northern Media’s success.

Merry Christmas

That’s a great way to end, I think. I’d like to thank everyone involved with Northern Media from clients to the team and suppliers and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025.

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!
