Planning
When a client or prospect approaches Northern Media about a website project, we aim to ensure that you clearly understand the process of how we approach our web projects and more importantly we’ll check that you have considered all relevant aspects of the project, such as;
- Sitemap
- Brand
- Target audience
- Functionality
- UX (user experience)
- Usability
From this point we will put together a thorough proposal document detailing all design and functionality aspects, as well as the all-important cost. This meeting is important for us as well as you, we use this meeting to determine if working together will be a good fit for us both.
Kick Off Meeting
We begin all projects with the all-important kick off meeting. From our side in this meeting will be the lead designer, project manager and/or lead developer who will be responsible for the project through from start to completion.
Design
The main purpose of the aforementioned kick off meeting is to begin the design process and produce visuals of the homepage, for both desktop and mobile. The visuals can and will be amended or updated to suit your tastes should the need arise. Upon signoff of the homepage design, we will then create the full suite of secondary page templates, again applying amends (if required) following your feedback.
Development
Once the designs have been approved, the website will then be moved on to the development team and the build will be started. In plain English, this means taking the flat pieces of designed artwork and transforming them into an all-singing, all-dancing website. The site will be built on our local servers, which are backed up in real-time, before being uploaded to our test environment when complete. Once the guys have built the site, they’ll distribute internally for the team to test and any kinks will be ironed out at this point too.
Content Upload & Test Link
Once the site has been fully built and tested, we will then upload the content and imagery into the site. It’s at this point we will provide the test link to you to check over and again provide any feedback or amends.
Approval, Testing & Launch
Following your approval of the site, we begin our final batch of internal tests by running through our rigorous pre-flight checklist. This includes over fifty separate checks that have to be completed before we will launch the site, such as: cross browser checks, proofreading of content, foundation SEO tasks, Google Analytics and goal tracking installation amongst others.
If any of this sounds like gobbledygook or you’d like further information to better understand, we’re always a click away and happy to hear from you!
