When MJ Backhouse first came to us in 2010, they wanted to ensure that their web presence reflected their high quality and professionalism as they were keen to become a leading regional pest control provider.

What We Did

MJ Backhouse wanted to modernise the site so that they could stay ahead of their competitors, also increasing the user experience and making it easier to get in touch with them on both mobile and desktop.

The website we created for MJ Backhouse focused on ensuring users would be able to easily find the specific pest pages they were looking for. The site map was streamlined to make the user journey as easy to use as possible to get in touch / get a quote, increasing the overall UX of the site.

We also created a series of icons that act as signposts to specific services as well as improving the look of the site. Pests aren’t the most photogenic of creatures, so the icons allow MJ Backhouse to point users in the right direction without them being scared off.

Results

Since the new site has been launched, MJ Backhouse have seen an improvement in bounce rate, improved session duration which is most likely down to the streamlined user journey and an overall increase in organic traffic.

And also…

The next stage was to drive traffic to the new site so Northern Media undertook a comprehensive keyword analysis to assess the opportunities on Google. This led to us producing and implementing a content strategy based on blogs, case studies, testimonials and location based content.

The final stage was to implement a link building strategy that focused on improving the overall trust flow of the website.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Average 7500 impressions over busy Summer periods
  • 100% of the 30 target keywords appeared on page 1 within 18 months of campaign launch
